Preparations well under way...

All the horses are now back in work and cantering away in preparation for the 2019/2020 national hunt season. An exciting time of year making plans for each individual horse and seeing how they have progressed since last season. The endless amounts of grass here in Wales has meant the horses have all come back from their holidays looking really well which is great to see and gives us a bit to work with for the season ahead.

This summer we have been busy doing the usual summer jobs of washing/painting the yard, breaking in the babies - who are now enjoying a bit of time in the field to take in all they are learnt! The biggest project of the summer has been the new round gallop which is now up and running. It is a big help in getting horses fit, with the deep sand surface we are able to do longer bursts of steady canter work to build up their fitness and stamina gradually. We are very much looking forward to the season ahead with this new asset.

It was great to see Torhousemuir get his head in front last week at Worcester for his owners Chris Haslam & John Trolan who have been big supporters of the yard since the start with Charlie Deutsch on board. Glad to see Torhousemuir obviously approves of the new gallop too! There are shares available in him so if you are interested please get in touch.

The next few weeks will be a case of continuing to get all the winter horses fit and ready for the start of October where we will then start to find races for them. Torhousemuir went up 8lbs for his win so he will be freshened up now and go again in the next few weeks.
