A Wet week!
The past couple have weeks have been quiet in terms of runners but it's been very busy at the yard and it's nice that we now have quite a few more horses with their heads over the doors. Last week I had my annual trip to Jura with some best friends, the weather was surprisingly good which made way for plenty of walks and water sports!
We turned out our babies which were purchased from the Land Rover sales as they've all done enough work for the time being and all know they're job now. We are lucky to have lovely grazing so close to the yard which means we can see them regularly and watch as they mature and grow. Pictured is an Arakan gelding who has really impressed me in the little time we've had him and I'm excited to have such a super bunch of youngsters to look forward to for the season ahead.
Caprice D'anglais has gone out for a good holiday and has now changed ownership. Pictured below out with a beautiful Passing Glance two year old, he will now enjoy himself for the next few weeks before coming back to us for a winter campaign. He is fairly versatile that he goes on most ground and should provide his new owners with plenty of fun through those wet winter months.
Tuesday saw More Than Luck to leave our yard for the last time as he went through the sales ring at Goffs in Doncaster. He sold very well and made 12k and will now be running in Point to Points for Caroline Bailey, we wish them all the very best with him in the future. The very next lot saw Amalfi Doug go through who we managed to secure, the strapping son of Network will be jumping fences for us this season and looks a nice prospect for the winter.
Above is the beautiful daughter of Windsor Knot out of the winning mare Tara Tara, she has a fantastic pedigree with lots of black type in the second dam. She is currently being pre-trained with Mark Palmer who does such a great job with the horses he is sent and she looks a very exciting prospect for mares NH flat races this winter. The majority of horses are now all back in work and are in their first week of cantering up the short. It is an exciting time seeing how all the young horses have benefited from some time in the field and we look forward to the season ahead with them all.
Powerstown Park returned to the yard earlier in the week having spent some time with Gary Witheford, him and his team have done a great job of bringing him back into work. He is cantering away up the short now and feel with more time he will be an exciting horse and will give his syndicate plenty of fun in the future.
