Sam Thomas Racing are on the move!

The rain has continued to fall over the last few weeks, making racing a bit hit and miss. We have managed to get quite a few runners in over the last few weeks so there is plenty to report back on. Kala Noire who was bought last summer from the Land Rover sales in Ireland made his racecourse debut at Huntingdon in a NH flat race, he learnt a lot throughout the day and finished a very creditable 4th. Related to the 1995 Grant National winner Royal Athlete the dream is still alive that he can one day follow in his shoes! He is a horse we are very much looking forward to next season.

Oscars Little Rose has had her final 2 runs in mares novices hurdles, conditions were not ideal for her but she jumped well in both starts, she will now get a handicap mark which should make life a little easier for her. Little Allstar also had his final novice hurdle run and now has a handicap mark of 105, he is currently having a couple of quieter weeks to freshen him up and wait for some better ground which should be more suited to him.

Sparkleandshine made an impressive winning start to his campaign under rules at Huntingdon in the novice hurdle with Charlie Deutsch on board, he jumped and traveled well throughout to win easily in a nice looking race. Amalfi Doug had his first start for us at Plumpton, the ground was softer than he would have liked and he ran a little too keen early on before then getting tired, he will improve massively for the outing.

Powerstown Park had a trip to Uttoxeter on Saturday for the novice hurdle, he was another one who didn't appreciate the soft ground, fingers crossed the ground starts to dry up so we can see him at his best! A busy weekend with Glentrool taking the trip up North once again to Carlisle for the NH flat race, he ran a creditable race staying on well to the line in a slowly run contest. He seems to have come out of the race bouncing and the decision is still to be made whether he'll have another run before his holidays.

Sam Thomas Racing are excited to announce a change of yard at the end of the month, the team and horses will be moving to Dai Walter's base just outside of Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity with top class facilities including gallops, schooling fences, school, water treadmill and spa. It will be sad to be leaving Lambourn and the historic Saxon House stables, but we are very much looking forward to the move.
