Season prep is well underway...

It's been a very busy time since our last blog, the horses are now back in full work getting fitter and fitter ready for the season ahead. They are all looking fantastic and it is great to see how many of them are bigger and stronger from a good summer at grass, we are certainly looking forward to getting underway in a few weeks time. There isn't a great urgency to get them out right away, it is a long season and we would like a little more rain on the ground for the majority of them.

The horses have been doing plenty of schooling these last few weeks, getting their eye back in for most and a few horses which have been learning about the jumping game the first time!

The Cannister Man

It is great that we are able to get so many of the horses out in the field at the moment with endless turnout that we have here, it really does help keep all the horses happy and healthy, which as we all know is key.

In terms of runners recently we have been a bit quieter Torhousemuir has put in a few good performances in the last few weeks finishing 2nd twice and a 3rd, being very unlucky to not get his head in front. He has had a quiet few weeks to freshen back up and we hope to get him out soon where fingers crossed he can get the win he deserves!

Not a Role Model had his final run of his summer season on Saturday where he put in another good performance to finish 4th at Market Rasen. It is now time for him to have his well deserved holiday as he has been in for a long time now and has been very consistent over the summer months.

Three year olds ready for feed time!

The three year old's will be coming back in next week having had a few weeks to think about what they learnt over the summer, we are looking forward to getting going with them over the next few months.

Next week we have a few entries, including Sam's annual ride in the Jump Legends charity race in aid of the Bob Champion Cancer Trust where he will be looking to defend his title! The race is at the opening jump meeting at Chepstow on the 13th October. Any donations for this great charity would be hugely appreciated https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/samthomas-2018.
